The words of Pope John Paul II echoed across the world as a call to live with fearless faith: “Be not afraid.” St. John Paul II faced profound personal loss, Nazi occupation, and even an assassination attempt—yet he continued to live boldly by these words.
Serving as pope for over 25 years, he played a key role in the fall of communism in Eastern Europe, advanced interfaith dialogue, and helped shape modern Catholic teaching on the dignity of the human person. He founded World Youth Day, gave 129 teachings that make up what is now known as the Theology of the Body, and powerfully articulated the idea of the “feminine genius.”
